Ellie Jean turns three under the sea, part 1

Karen Halker February 13, 2017

My daughter, Ellie, turned the big THREE at the end of January.  We celebrated with mermaids, her current favorite, and the twelve year old in me was over the moon!  Ariel, has always been a favorite, so creating an underwater wonderland was a-ok with me!  I've always loved the puzzle aspect of party decor.  Coming up with a vision, and then figuring out how to make that vision come to come to fruition with balloons, construction paper, fabric and frosting.  And hopefully, if it all goes well, a little magic gets created in the end!  Isn't that really the best part of being a parent?  Getting to create that look of wonder on your child's face?

In the past, I've been terrible at taking pre-party pictures, so this time, I made it a point to pull out the camera before the guests arrived. Grab your snorkel and join us!

Today is National Midwifery Day. By far birth is the most transformative experience to document. Witnessing the power of of a mother delivering a life into this world is such a sacred honor.

If you have given birth, you know how scary the journey
The sweetest graduation shots are the preschool and kindergarten graduation sessions! While I am in no rush for these kiddos to grow up, but how great is it going to be to see her senior portraits next to her tiny ones?
I’m ridiculously proud of this woman! She is a powerhouse of an individual and an incredible role model for her three kids. I loved seeing the joy and pride on their faces looking up at their Mama!

Not only did she get her master’s degr
